Phil Doberenz, CEO
Inventor of The Ivy Ripper
It all started with Phil wanting a tool to make it easier to remove English Ivy. Over time, and many failed attempts, he acquired the skills and machinery to create the Ivy Ripper. Phil is the founder of X-Tirp, an Oregon Public Benefit Corporation, to make the world a better place by targeting invasive species. In addition to working on the engineering side, Phil, along with his crew, also hires out to remove Ivy as a service. Pulling Ivy daily helps to keep him in shape, and also allowed him to refine and improve removal techniques, which he’s happy to share with anyone.
Before X-Tirp, Phil was a Sr. Hardware Engineer/Systems Engineer at Intel Corp., but now uses his engineering skills to combat invasive species. Phil is currently focusing on English Ivy, Himalayan Blackberry, Japanese Knotweed and Holly.
